Bio:

Marlowe holds a PhD in East Asian Studies from McGill University and earned his master’s and honours undergraduate degrees from the University of Toronto, where he majored in English and Philosophy. His academic work spans literature, history, urban studies, and digital media, and he has taught courses in Japanese language, film, and history at the university level.

With over a decade of teaching experience in both Canada and Japan, Marlowe has helped students of all ages—from preschoolers to graduate students—build their confidence and succeed in English. He has taught in private language schools and served as an assistant language teacher with the JET Programme, where he helped students strengthen their language skills and gain admission to top universities both in Japan and abroad. By helping students set goals, connect personally with the material, and continuously ask questions, he helps students achieve top marks in school and on a standardized tests.

Marlowe’s teaching style is student-focused, goal-oriented, and grounded in a belief that every learner can exceed their own expectations. He helps students connect personally with the material, build lasting skills, and achieve top marks in school and on standardized tests. By setting goals, forging personal connections to the learning material, and constantly pushing themselves to learn more, students will achieve stellar results and gain lifelong skills that support academic and professional growth.

In his free time, Marlowe enjoys wandering the city on foot or exploring the country by train. He also loves reading, rock climbing, and theatre. He is fluent in Japanese and recently passed the JLPT N1.
