Bio:

Clara is an experienced TA essay counselor and is proud that her students have been accepted to universities such as UPenn, Georgetown, UCLA, University of Michigan, University of Toronto, University of Edinburgh, UBC, Keio PEARL, Waseda, and others.

Clara was born in Canada, grew up in Ireland (where her mother is from) and currently lives in Japan (where her father is from). She has a BA (Hons) in Drama and English from Trinity College Dublin and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia.

Clara is a lecturer at Tsuda University, where she teaches classes in English, literature, culture and creative writing. Her favourite class to teach is about children’s picture books. (Favourite picture book: Where the Wild Things Are.)

Clara writes fiction for adults and young people as well as non-fiction essays, articles and reviews. She’s been published in Ireland, Japan, Canada, and the US and was recently named as a finalist in the Asian Canadian Writers Workshop Emerging Writers Contest. She’s currently working on a speculative fiction young adult novel.

She spends most of her spare time reading, doing yoga, and going to cat cafes because she would really like to own a cat. Fun fact: she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2010!
