Angi (she/they) has earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as well as a master’s and Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder). During graduate school, Angi taught several university-level astronomy courses while developing superconducting detectors for telescopes that observe the cosmic microwave background, a.k.a. the light from the Big Bang! Their academic accomplishments have been recognized with several accolades, including an Award for Excellence in Teaching from CU Boulder, the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship, and the Department of Energy’s Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship. She has served twice on the graduate school admissions committee, which involved evaluating >200 applications and developing the evaluation rubric for admission to her department’s Ph.D. program.
With their STEM expertise and strong track record of supporting students from diverse backgrounds (academically and otherwise), they are both well-equipped and very enthusiastic about helping students navigate their own paths to success.
