James completed his Bachelor of Science in Communication at Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with a minor in business. After graduation, he started teaching in Seoul, South Korea, where he has worked with international students from different backgrounds and ages ranging from elementary to high school students. During this time, he gained extensive experience teaching students preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT®, SSAT, and TOEFL, helping them realize their goals of attending middle, high school, and university abroad. Some of his fondest memories are students sharing their excitement over their well-deserved acceptance results.
An opportunity at realizing his small dream of starting a business had brought him back to the US, where he dedicated his efforts at growing his eyewear company. While running a business had been fulfilling, over the years he realized that working in education and alongside lifelong learners had always been his true calling, ushering him back to Tokyo and a return to teaching. James has earned top marks on multiple AP® exams (Chemistry, Physics), and has been on the dean’s list consistently throughout his college career. His teaching philosophy centers around curiosity, independent thinking, and critical analysis.
In his free time, James enjoys taking photographs, playing golf, and reading novels.
