Ben graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College with a BA in Religious Studies and earned highest honors on his senior thesis. As a Fulbright Fellow in Japan, he conducted research on policy initiatives related to foreign migrant workers in Tokyo. He holds a certificate from the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies, and is currently pursuing a masters degree at Keio University to conduct further research on contemporary Japanese society.
As a peer writing tutor at Middlebury and an academic mentor at the University of Michigan, Ben worked with students from a wide variety of academic and personal backgrounds. It was greatly rewarding to see students not only achieve their academic goals, but also build confidence as thinkers and writers.
Outside of teaching spaces, Ben also worked for several years at the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York as a Board of Directors Coordinator, managing relationships with top executives at Japanese companies.
Ben’s academic interests range from literature and languages to social studies and law. He earned a 5 on multiple AP® exams (U.S. History, AP® Language & Literature), received N2 certification on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and scored a 173 on the LSAT.
In his free time, Ben enjoys playing tennis, watching college basketball, and competing in video game tournaments.
