Mei is originally from Hawaii but grew up in Bali where she attended an International School and completed the IB degree program. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Economics and a minor in Business Administration and Japanese. After graduation, she moved to Shanghai where she began working full-time in admissions consulting and standardized test preparation. She relocated to Tokyo in 2020 and has devoted the years since to working with students – in both English and Japanese – on how best to present their personal narratives and achieve academic excellence.
Mei is deeply familiar with the Gateway and SAO boarding school portals, as well as the inner workings of university application processes for schools in the US and Japan. Mei specializes in helping students discover their best-fit schools and fields of study, and her prior students have commented on how well she has sparked their intellectual curiosity and contributed to the development of their social maturity and academic management skills.
Since 2019, Mei’s students have been accepted to top-tier schools including Columbia, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, USC, UCLA, BU, Georgetown, Harvey Mudd, UC Berkeley, RISD, Georgia Tech, University of Hawaii, Keio, Waseda, ICU, Hosei, Ritsumeikan, and many more. As Lead Consultant for Boarding and Private School Admissions, her students have gained admittance to The Lawrenceville School, Phillips Exeter Academy, The Hotchkiss School, The Taft School, The Peddie School, and more.
