Bio:

Kyu completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. As an undergraduate, Kyu worked as an academic researcher at the National Soybean Research Center, Illinois Sustainable Research Center, and Illinois State Water Survey. After graduating, he moved to Tokyo where he obtained his master’s degree in Health Science from the Human Ecology Department at the University of Tokyo. Kyu’s dissertation investigated the exacerbating effects of pollen on air pollutants and respiratory mortality in Kyushu cities.

Kyu has over 3 years of experience working with students on achieving admissions into top-tier universities. Between working with students in the United States and Tokyo, he has taught STEM courses to upwards of 1000 students, and tutored students in English and standardized testing including TOEFL, IELTS, and SAT®.

Professionally, Kyu works as a robotics software engineer and continues to contribute to academic research by publishing original research articles, conference papers, and patents. He has published over 10 papers in highly selective journals (Impact Factor >10). His research and professional interests span multiple interdisciplinary subjects: machine learning, wearable technology, privacy, environmental science, and water engineering.

Kyu’s passion for working with students stems from uncovering their hidden potential. He enjoys helping students navigate their interests in STEM and leveraging his professional and academic experiences to better help students understand the requirements of being a STEM professional.

Kyu’s students have gained admissions to universities including Stanford, UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, and the University of Tokyo.
