Bio:

Kat graduated with distinction from Stanford University in 2015, with double Bachelor’s degrees in English (creative writing) and Japanese studies. They have three years’ experience teaching elementary through high school-age children, having participated in the JET Program in rural Oita, and a further year of experience teaching with Berlitz Japan. Writing and editing is their passion.

Outside of tutoring for TA, Kat is a translator and writer, often covering LGBTQ topics for online publications. These publications include a discussion of nonbinary identity and ballet for Connect Magazine and an interview of artist Murasaki Sisen for GPlus Media. In 2019, Kat provided English translation and subtitling for Taiki Sugioka’s award-winning documentary, You Decide, following a transgender architect and activist.

In their free time, Kat enjoys performance art, video games, and dance.
