Bio:

Emily grew up in Silicon Valley in California, majored in Economics at Wellesley College near Boston (including cross-registration at MIT Sloan School of Management), studied abroad for a year at Oxford (including classes at Oxford Saïd Business School), and interned at New York on Wall Street before joining full time with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong in Prime Brokerage Capital Introduction for hedge funds. She scored 2300 out of 2400 on the SAT® and also took the following exams in high school: AP® Statistics, AP® Biology, AP® Chinese, SAT® II: Biology, SAT® II: Math Level 2C, SAT® II: Literature. In addition to Wellesley, she was accepted into UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, and Middlebury College.

At Berlitz and Human Academy, Emily helped elementary, middle, and high school students with coursework (improving grades at school) and test prep (TOEFL, Eiken, TOEIC). Her past students are now at universities in Canada and the US. She has also helped Masters and PhD students at Tokyo Institute of Technology prepare for interviews at Google, Panasonic, Kao, etc. She conducts alumni interviews for candidates applying to her alma mater, Wellesley College, and also helps underclassmen with application essays for study abroad programs at Oxford.

Emily was a 2013 California Speech and Debate State Championship Finalist and her water polo team competed in the 2011 USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics. At age 15, she climbed Half Dome in Yosemite with her father. When she’s not teaching, Emily enjoys jogging, reading, and spending time with her Japanese friends to improve her Japanese!
