Ed grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and in high school, he took AP® courses and achieved top exam scores for BC Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, U.S. History, and French. With the AP® credits, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in three years. Before attending college, he did a summer homestay in Kanagawa in Japan, and after college, he did a summer exchange in Taiwan. In addition to UM, he was accepted into Northwestern University.
After taking the GMAT and applying to MBA programs, Ed achieved his Masters from the University of California Irvine. After working in the entertainment industry (movies, TV, and novels) in Los Angeles, Ed moved to Japan, first to study Japanese and pass the N2 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and then to teach English at elementary schools and after-school programs. In total, he has two years of English teaching experience, from kids as young as four years old, all the way up to adults in their sixties.
Currently, Ed is an English tutor at Waseda University, teaching English conversation to college students. His hobbies are golf and tennis, as well as mindfulness meditation, for which he has received a teaching certification.
