Annli

Yale University
(Online, In-person)

Bio:

Annli graduated from Yale University with a Master of Environmental Science as well as a Bachelor of Science with a double-major in English Literature and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Her graduate and undergraduate research focused on plant ecology, specifically with regard to plant community composition, plant ecophysiology, and invasive plant biology. She is currently a part-time lecturer at the Tokyo University of Pharmacy & Life Sciences, teaching in the English for Life Sciences program.

Annli attributes her love of teaching and learning to her 9th-grade English teacher, Mr. Wyer, who first taught her to read with a critical eye and explore different interpretations. She hopes to similarly inspire her students to not only master content but also sharpen their skills and find exciting ways to apply their knowledge in new contexts.

Annli first began teaching in high school as an after-school tutor for middle-school students. In college, she worked as a teaching fellow for Japanese-language as well as biology courses. As a graduate student, she worked with New Haven high school students through Yale’s environmental education initiatives. She also assisted New Haven high school students with college applications and currently serves as an alumni interviewer for Yale College admissions.

In her free time, she loves reading, watching Premier League soccer, playing guitar & piano, and baking.
