WHO WE ARE

Tokyo Academics is the passion project of a constellation of teachers, researchers, and academics in Tokyo, Japan. Since 2012, we’ve evolved from a few university friends teaching over a restaurant in Nakameguro, to a growing number of part-time and full-time individuals located in a share office, to what we are now: an organization of experts deeply passionate about helping students meet their potential and capture the opportunities of the future.

OUR VALUES

Tokyo Academics knows, from experience, that passion and education combine powerfully.

  • We know that inspired students can accomplish far more than they are typically expected to do at a particular grade or age.
  • We see that success in today’s world requires training students to be truly exceptional thinkers and doers.
  • We understand that our students will be competing on a world stage in the future, and their preparation needs to be competitive at a global level.
  • We aim to foster intellectual curiosity and pair it with practical skills-based teaching.

Inspired Learning

Students accomplish more than we expect when they’re inspired, and constraints are pulled away. Foster the flame of their intellectual curiosity, then get out of the way – what students can do will inspire even you.

Instructor-Mentorship

We aren’t teachers. Our expert instructors are here to provide deep content expertise and role-model habits and attitudes essential for success. Whether you’re working with a JD, MA, PhD, or a BA, we provide the greater context for why academics are important.

Success Needs Discipline

The greatest talents are wasted without discipline and practice. There are no shortcuts in academics: every new skill and expertise requires practice, practice, and even more practice. Do you have what it takes to upgrade your abilities?
