Bio:

Ken was born in Japan but grew up in the UK from the age of 2 until the end of high school. He attended Millfield School, a prestigious boarding school, with scholarships in both academics and sports, where he achieved 8A* grades in his GCSEs and A*AA at A-Level, as well as a score in the 99th percentile in the ACT. Ken then attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

During university, Ken spent a summer interning at TEECOm, a design engineering consultancy firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ken also participated in a study abroad program at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Chile, where he took engineering courses in Spanish, a language that had been learned through high school and university classes. This program also included an internship as a research assistant at El Centro de Energia, a renewable energy research center.

After finishing university, Ken started working at Tokyo Academics, specializing in teaching Mathematics, Physics, and SAT® prep. This was followed by a 1-year hiatus from Tokyo Academics, during which time Ken played professional rugby for the Japan national 7s team. As of December 2023, Ken has now returned to Tokyo Academics in a remote capacity while he plays rugby in New Zealand.

In addition to his time with Tokyo Academics, Ken has experience as a peer tutor at both high school and university, again specializing in Mathematics and Physics.
