Ken was born in Japan but grew up in the UK from the age of 2 until the end of high school. Ken attended Millfield School with scholarships in both academics and sports, achieving 8 A* grades in his GCSEs and A*AA at A-Level, as well as a score in the 99th percentile in the ACT. He then attended the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

During university, Ken worked as a summer intern at TEECOM, a design engineering consultancy firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. This experience allowed Ken to demonstrate his understanding of Maths, Physics, and Engineering fundamentals in specifying Telecommunications systems, cabling, and devices using CAD/BIM software. Ken also participated in a study abroad program in Chile, which included a position as a research assistant at Centro de Energía, a renewable energy research center. This role gave Ken the opportunity to perform technical, Engineering analysis in a Spanish-speaking work environment, a language that had been learned through high school and university classes.
In addition to his training with Tokyo Academics, Ken has experience tutoring at the high school and university level, specializing in Mathematics and Physics. Outside of his work at Tokyo Academics, Ken is pursuing a career in professional rugby and is currently studying for the JLPT N2 exam. In his free time, Ken enjoys hiking and exploring new places around Japan.
