Yuta Otake has been a teacher for the past twelve years in New York, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Taiwan. He has taught K-12 ESL as well as academic English at universities. This past November, he received the U.S. Department of State Public Diplomacy Award for his continued mentorship efforts with his former students.
Yuta holds a Master of Arts Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from New York University. He graduated with a 3.9 GPA and received the Graduation Award for Excellence in Service for his commitment to community outreach. He loves teaching and hopes that all of his students feel comfortable reaching out to him even decades later.
In addition to teaching, Yuta spent several years working at Sesame Street where he helped to create ESL, TOEFL, and TOEFL Jr. prep materials for schools in Japan. He speaks Japanese fluently and loves Japanese literature. He also enjoys sports and jogs 20km every morning.
