A graduate of Princeton University, Lisa has been teaching for 15 years, specializing in test preparation and admissions counseling. After graduating, she moved to Japan and founded an English language school for children, for which she created a unique 12-year-curriculum and educational program from the ground up. The school now has approximately 1000 students and 6 branches throughout Tokyo. She has worked with Tokyo Academics since its inception in 2013 and has now re-joined the team full-time as a Director and an Admissions Counselor certified by the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

  • Helping students with their extracurricular and entrepreneurial pursuits:  After more than 7 years of experience with starting and running her own businesses, Lisa has utilized her extensive knowledge and expertise to help students plan, build, execute and attain their extracurricular and entrepreneurial goals.
  • Achieving Academics Results/Learning Habits: Hailing from a family of educators and working in the field of education for over 15 years, Lisa is deeply interested in how students learn. She works with each student, striving to understand each of their struggles to achieve the results they want. She helps her students structure and commits to a plan that guides them to succeed. Additionally, she helps students be more efficient/elective with their study time so that they have more time to focus on the other parts of their college application.
  • Student-athletes: Lisa was a recruited student-athlete and played for Princeton’s Division 1 soccer team, which was ranked #4 in the country during her freshman year. She works with student-athletes who are interested in playing at the collegiate level (D1, D2, and D3 schools), guiding them through the recruited athlete’s application timeline and tasks and navigating them through the unique challenge of seeking recruitment as a recruited athlete.
  • Students looking for bilingual support: Lisa is Japanese-American; she was born in Japan, attended school in the United States, and returned to Japan to work in education. This has given her a deep understanding of the American, Japanese, and international school systems. Lisa is also used in English and Japanese, so she works with students seeking counseling in Japanese.
