Brooke graduated from Barnard College, the women’s college of Columbia University, with distinction in 2011. She holds a degree in English, a minor in Spanish, and spent six semesters as an Environmental Science Teaching Assistant. Through her work with the department, Brooke had the unique opportunity to collaborate with curators at the Museum of Natural History as they planned their Race to the End of the Earth exhibition in 2009. Her undergraduate studies also included enrollment in PhD-level seminars at Columbia, and a thesis in Medieval Andalusian Gastronomy that was completed through a direct-enrollment program at the University of Granada in Spain during her junior year.
For the past 10 years, Brooke has been immersed in the world of magazine editing and writing. She has held full-time positions at publications including Harper’s Bazaar and Billboard. As a freelancer, she has written for outlets spanning the New York Times, GQ, NPR, and Paper. She was mentored by the esteemed biographer and Vanity Fair contributing-editor, Patricia Bosworth. She has also privately worked as a tutor for high school and graduate school students throughout New York City.
In her free time, Brooke loves to hike, practice yoga, and travel. She is also a Girls Write Now 360 mentor.
