Marigold graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a BA in Systems Engineering and a MS in Industrial Engineering. As an undergraduate student, she was on the Dean’s List for six semesters and graduated with Tau Beta Pi honors. In high school, she scored in the 99th percentile on both SAT and ACT, earned an AP Scholar with Distinction certification, and garnered a National Merit Scholarship. She focused her graduate thesis on the field of Engineering Education, with a specific look at the role of identity in matriculation of college freshmen in engineering. As an interdisciplinary scholar, she is passionate about advancing pedagogical practices within the material sciences.
As a College and Boarding School Admissions Consultant, Marigold works across a wide range of students and subjects, with a special emphasis on counseling women and girls in STEM fields. Before joining Tokyo Academics, she taught undergraduate courses for two years at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and subsequently worked for 2 years in Japan as a full-time math and science teacher and part-time test prep instructor.
Since 2019, Marigold’s students have been accepted to colleges including Columbia, Princeton, UC Berkeley, Tufts, and Northeastern. Her students have also been accepted to top boarding schools such as The Taft School, The Loomis Chaffee School, The Lawrenceville School, The Thatcher School, Cate School, ‘Iolani School, Punahou School, and The Peddie School.
