Crypto: A Digital Economy

What exactly is a Bitcoin? How do NFTs work? What are the economic implications of a decentralized currency?
Tech tutor Dash Prathamesh (University of Tokyo) and Academics tutor Yibo Sun (École Polytechnique l’X) will present a two-part lecture on cryptocurrency. Dash will kick us off with an introduction to what cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are and how they work. The tech portion will be followed with a talk by Yibo on the economic implications of cryptocurrency. Yibo, whose graduate research explored the potential cryptocurrency has to improve energy democracy worldwide, will share with us the highlights of his research and other roles cryptocurrency may play in the future of local and world economies.
