Who should do it?

Students who are:

  • Greater than 15 years of age
  • Have a solid understanding of mathematics/ data analysis
  • Can contribute roughly 2 hours a week to research

A facial recognition technology in a smart attendance application in order to make the attendance taking process more efficient.

OPEN SOURCE SOLUTION FOR SPATIAL-TEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF FOOTBALL PLAYER PERFORMANCE

An Open Source, post-match analysis software that recreates player and soccer ball movements as two dimensional trajectories as seen from a bird’s eye view is implemented.

Open Source Software for Analysis and Correlation of Eye-Tracking Data and Standardized Test Performance

An open-source application using a gaze- tracking device for investigating a correlation between reading patterns and superior Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) reading scores is presented.

EFFECT OF SLEEP QUALITY OF EXAMINATION PERFORMANCE

Research on effects of sleep quality, length of sleep, and length deep sleep on accuracy and speed/alertness of reaction.

Duration: 5 months ~ 17 months – As we are encouraging real research without predetermined outcomes, we cannot guarantee the exact project length. As a general guideline, research involving hardware creation lasts longer than social science research.

Weekly Commitment: Research workflow will depend on students’ research topic and schedule. As a general rule, previous research students have spent approximately 2 hours each week on their projects.

Acquiring a deeper understanding of the world – be it through the lens of social science, technology, biology, or psychology – is one of the most crucial aspects of a modern education. TA can help you both refine your project and acquire the planning and execution skills to enable you to see it through to a satisfactory conclusion — skills that will serve you well when it comes to doing further projects in the future.

By undertaking a substantial project, our ultimate aim is for students to publish a scientific research paper. A scientific publication is a key piece of scientific literature that will leave permanent mark of one’s research activities and results in academic databases.

This is highly regarded by universities and is a great boon to any CV/resumes and applications.
